Endoscopic Services
A full private endoscopic service can be offered by Cardiff Colorectal which is provided in the purpose built endoscopy facility at Cardiff Spire Hospital. This facility is fitted with all the necessary advanced endoscopic equipment required to provide a full diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy service.
An NHS endoscopic service is also offered at both University Hospital of Wales and at the University Hospital Llandough.

ColonoscopyColonoscopy is a technique to internally examine the lining of the large bowel using a special flexible camera. Both a diagnostic and therapeutic service is offered in colonoscopy. Often a decision can be made during a diagnostic colonoscopy to proceed directly to treat conditions endoscopically there and then.

Flexible SigmoidoscopyFlexible sigmoidoscopy is a similar test to a full colonoscopy but is limited to examination of the left side of the large bowel. As this test is shorter than a full colonoscopy it does not normally require sedation to be given during the procedure.

GastroscopyGastroscopy is a test used to examine the lining of the oesophagus (gullet), stomach and duodenum. Gastroscopy is used to diagnose conditions of the upper gastrointestinal tract and to guide appropriate treatment.

Anorectal Physiology
Anorectal physiology is an investigation used to assess the strength or weaknesses of the anal canal as a part of investigation of incontinence conditions. It is used to guide the management of incontinence with either medications or surgery.
